This year marks the fifth year of Rhode Island’s #1 Youth Summit #YESpvd! (formerly TURNUPRI).The 2020 Spring edition of the youth summit is a free one-day culturally competent career exploration, entrepreneurship, empowerment and leadership conference for Rhode Island students ages 13-24. The youth summit will be hosted on Tuesday, April 14th, 2020 at Hope High School in Providence. The youth summit’s theme for 2020 is “DIBs = Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging”. To celebrate our fifth year and make this event another huge success, we would love to have your support in any of the variety of ways you can including volunteering, donations and sponsorships.
In an effort to align statewide efforts in youth development and career pathways, the Summit’s workshops are based on a mixture of identified emerging industries in Rhode Island and by a statewide youth survey. Workshop topics have included: How to Get to Medical School, The Path to Law School, Cybersecurity, Youth Organizing, Run for Public Office, Fashion Design and Careers in Advanced Manufacturing … just to name a few! Last year we added an Entrepreneurship pathway to the youth summit for those who may choose a career as an entrepreneur.
Each year, the youth summit provided over 300+ young people an opportunity of a lifetime to spark interest in career fields they may not have otherwise considered by presenters who look like them! In the previous years, we were able to award a few $1000 scholarships to college-bound seniors! With your support, we can offer more scholarships and continue to expand our impact on Rhode Island’s diverse population of young people.
We also hope to continue to bring powerful and influential keynote speakers and others, like Luvvie, Mike Holston to Rhode Island to inspire our young people… and you can help make that possible this year!
The youth summit is made possible thanks to our partners; Community Action Partnership of Providence (CAPP) our fiscal sponsor, the Providence Public School District (PPSD), the Providence Public Library (PPL), the Rhode Island Foundation (RIF), the Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE), the Rhode Island Department of Labor & Training (RIDLT) , the Rhode Island Department of Health’s Health Equity Institute (RIDOH) and you!
Please consider starting or continuing supporting the youth summit and be a part of the excitement!
